On a slightly different note to my recent tweets...
The Independant newspaper ran a 10 adverts that shocked the world. Now, I'm unsure wether these are in order - we all love a top ten - but if it was this one came in at Number 2.
And yet it does not shock me. If anything it makes me wanna stand up and scream 'YES' in a angry 'death is too good for them' sort of way. At this point I should make clear I absolutely do not want anyone to die but my gut instictive response is sheer anger to anyone who grooms or coerces children or percieves them as sexual as I feel some sort of protection for the child no matter what. The legal age for sex and marriage in the UK is 16 but I personally still think they are children until 17 and as I have said many times, the change and progress in children/teenagers between 12 and 19 is massive and thats on a bi-monthly basis. Now the advert, as the article says, is American where generally the age of consent is 18 - which is reasonable.Anyway, I'm being lead astray. If they are in school uniform, they are children. Sixth Form is casual office wear I am OK with but I'm 21 so think 17/18 is as low as I would morally go for my reasons above.
The point it, I think the advert - which you can see site linked below - is not shocking. I think its clever and provokes a simple thought. I've seen many men in my childhood who needed reminding of its very simple message.
As always I'd appreciate your feedback and I write this not to offend anyone - these are my opinions not necessarily that of any employer and nearly all of which I have expressed publically before. Feel free to comment or tweet - is the advert shocking? Or is it just less shocking then the other 9?
Speak soon xx
